A man appeared at Derry Magistrates Court for breaching bail conditions hours after being released from custody.

Dean Robinson (30) of London Street in Derry was on bail for two cases and had just been released on Monday for a breach that happened last weekend.

A part of his previous bail conditions was that he not make any contact with his ex-partner and was to report to police if she made contact with him.

Police were called after it was reported by a neighbour that he had invited his former partner into his flat.

Police objected to bail, saying that Robinson had shown 'he can't abide by the simplest of terms'.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that he wasn't sure if the neighbour was 'public spirited or mean spirited', saying that when police arrived they found Robinson and his former partner having tea and toast.

He added that Robinson and the woman were in a relationship and 'had been for some time', telling court that she was 'not co-operating' with the case.

Robinson was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear again on February 29.
