Ladies from the Derry News will be among over 4,000 women who will lace up their trainers this June to participate in the Foyle Hospice Walk/Run.

The star fundraising event for the Foyle Hospice will take place on Sunday, June 11, and female employees at the Derry News will be among the sea of pink t-shirts that will swamp the city all in the name of a good cause.

The Derry News participants aren’t sure if they’re physical efforts will help them hit the headlines instead of making them but they are willing to get involved to raise funds for the Hospice.

Noel McMonagle, Community Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, encouraged local women and girls to get registered as, this year, will be a prize draw for early entrants.

“As an extra incentive there will be a special prize drawn for all of those who return their sponsorship to us before the end of August,” he said.

Mr McMonagle also said he was happy to welcome the Derry News, alongside Seagate, as one of this year’s sponsors: “We are also delighted that Seagate and the Derry News have come on board as sponsors for this year.”

As ever, there are high hopes for the turnout and it is hoped that there will be in excess of 4,000 women and girls hitting the streets on June 11, donning their pink Foyle Hospice t-shirts.
