Derry steps back in time to mark 70th anniversary of U-boat surrender

Hundreds have attended exhibits and talks in Derry’s Guildhall and Tower Museum to find out more about the dramatic event which ended the Battle of the Atlantic and in the city during World War II – the surrender of the German U-boat at Lisahally in May 1945.
Photo one shows Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Museums Services staff while photo two features the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Elisha McCallion, with Margaret Edwards, Museums Services, and Michelle Murray, manager of the Guildhall. The third photo is members of the public viewing some of the many pieces of original wartime memorabilia on display during the event.
