Derry woman accused of making false rape and sexual assault claims appears in court

Court grants defence team an adjournment until November 5 to digest 1,000 pages of legal papers
A Preliminary Enquiry involving a woman charged with 10 counts of perverting the course of justice by making false sexual assault allegations has been adjourned at Derry Magistrate's Court today.
Catherine Clare Malcolm (46) of Grovemount Court in Derry faces a total of 10 charges, eight of them being allegations of sexual assault and two allegations of rape.
The charges are said to have occurred on dates between December 21 2015 until November 6 2018.
Defence counsel Aoife Macauley told the court that she had only recently become involved in the case and the papers run to more than 1,000 pages and she needed some time to study them.
She asked for an adjournment in the PE until November 5 to allow her time to read the papers and this was granted.
