Derry woman bailed following domestic assault on mother

District Judge orders no contact between defendant and her mother
Corrina McDaid (44) of Farren Park in Derry was arrested on August 12 after her mother called police to report that her daughter was having a mental breakdown and had assaulted her.
Police arrived and arrested McDaid, taking her to Altnagelvin due to her mental health before bringing her to the police station, where she admitted to the assault and said that if her mother couldn't take it she could 'take her oil'.
The court also heard that McDaid had recently been released from Grangewood and had not been taking her medication, claiming that health 'was for profit'.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that McDaid's mother is willing to have her back and is not making a statement to police.
District Judge Ted Magill granted bail on conditions including an address approved by police, something he said will be a 'sticking point' as she is not to have any contact with her mother.
She will appear again on August 17.
