Derry woman fined £200 for damaging ex-partner's door

Nichola McCahill (47) of Dellwood in Derry admitted a charge of criminal damage that occurred on September 29, 2023
An incident between a man and his former partner has resulted in the woman being fined at Derry Magistrates' Court.
Nichola McCahill (47) of Dellwood in Derry admitted a charge of criminal damage that occurred on September 29, 2023.
The court heard that in the early hours of the morning on that date police received a report of a domestic incident.
The injured party told police that his former partner had shown up at his property demanding to be admitted.
He had locked the doors to prevent her entry and she proceeded to kick at the door and tried to force her way in.
The court heard that the couple's three children were present when the incident occurred.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said his client had not thought any damage had been done but there were marks on the door.
He said McCahill was a lady with problems.
Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said she would take an 'exceptional' attitude and fined her £200.
