Derry woman remanded following seventh bail violation

Kelly Anne O'Kane (37) of Holly Lane in Derry appeared charged with breaching the alcohol condition of her bail
A woman has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court when she appeared on her seventh breach of bail.
Kelly Anne O'Kane (37) of Holly Lane in Derry appeared charged with breaching the alcohol condition of her bail.
A police officer told the court that police were opposing bail as this was seventh breach and the defendant had been given a final warning at her last court appearance.
The police officer said that there had been four breaches within recent months and police felt it was 'not suitable' to allow her to continue to breach bail.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said O'Kane was on Crown Court bail and her case had been delayed due to the ongoing industrial action.
He said the defendant had alcohol issues but there had been no new offending.
District Judge Suzanne Rice said that the defendant had been given a final warning and there had been no success with any conditions.
She remanded O'Kane into custody to appear again on May 15.
