Louise Nixon handed four months for series of thefts spanning 2024–2026 and disorderly behavior

A woman has been jailed at Derry Magistrate's Court today for a series of thefts including three watches from a man who was found dead.

Louise Nixon (40) of Cornshell Fields in Derry admitted four thefts that occurred in 2024, 2025 and this year.

The court heard that police were called to a report of two males in a flat on October 25 2024.

One of the males was found to be unresponsive and CPR was unsuccessful.

A number of watches were found to be missing and Nixon was caught on camera leaving with a black box believed to contain the watches.

The court was told that it was unclear if Nixon took the items before or after the man's death.

Nixon also admitted stealing items from a pharmacy on September 12 2025.

The court was further told that on August 29 this year Nixon took 4 items valued at £128 from a store.

On August 30 Nixon was disorderly in Altnagelvin Hospital by shouting and swearing.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that the theft of the watches had attracted a good deal of attention from the community.

Nixon was jailed for four months.
