Derry’s biggest ever Foyle Pride Festival begins today

Derry’s annual Foyle Pride Festival begins today – with the organisers promising a bigger and better celebration.
The event will run to until Sunday next, 30 September.
Last year, 7,400 people attended the Foyle Pride parade alone and initial predictions suggest even more will join the celebrations this time round.
A spokesperson for the Foyle Pride festival said: “Foyle Pride promotes understanding and respect for diversity, it provides a diverse programme of quality entertainment and creativity with mass appeal actively enhancing Derry’s reputation as an enjoyable welcoming and safe place.
“The Festival was a great success last year. It was fantastic to see so many people on the streets of Derry. Pride is a celebration of the LGBT community and an important cultural event for the city.”
“This year we want to make Pride bigger and better and hope that all of the Derry community will come out and support us.”
Highlight of the festival will be the Foyle Pride parade on Saturday next, August 29, leaving Waterside Station for the Guildhall Square at 1.00pm.
