Derry mental health campaigner Danny Quigley has completed the first leg of his latest epic challenge to raise funds for local charities.

Danny, who completed 10 Ironmans in 10 days in 2021, is aiming to swim the length of the Foyle until he reaches Kinnagoe Bay in Inishowen.

Danny swam the entire river from Lifford to Prehen in 7 hours 18 minutes. His next leg will begin at the mouth of Lough Foyle.

He's said: "This isn't about me, it's about celebrating the lives of those who we have lost. Remember them, don't be afraid to speak of them, bring them up in conversation and be proud of them. Do it all the time without fear of what others think."
