Derry’s iconic Shipquay Street to ‘Turn Red for Gaza’

‘Starving children is a war crime. Bombing children is a war crime, Targeting healthcare workers is a war crime’ - Derry IPSC
The Derry branch of the Ireland-Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) is calling on people in the North West to ‘Turn Shipquay Street Red for Gaza’.
The event will take place on Saturday, June 21, when participants are asked to assemble at Bishop’s Gate in the city.
Inviting as many people as possible to take part, Catherine Hutton, the chairperson of DIPSC said: “Join us as we turn Derry red for Gaza. We will walk from Bishop’s Gate and fill Shipquay Street with a giant red line of fabric.
“This will be a powerful symbol that genocide is our red line,” said Ms Hutton. “We are also asking everyone at the event to wear red clothing, scarves or headgear.
“Starving children is a war crime. Bombing children is a war crime, Targeting healthcare workers is a war crime; we are urging the Israeli state to stop killing civilians in the Gaza strip.
“Derry says Israel has crossed the red line. Stand with Gaza. Stand for humanity. Bring your voice, wear red, and be part of this powerful action,” said Ms Hutton.
