Derry’s Na Piarsaigh CLG Doire Trasna launches fundraising drive for historic Spanish trip
U17 boys from Na Piarsaigh CLG Doire Trasna prepare to represent their club and city on the international stage this July
The U17 boys of Na Piarsaigh CLG Doire Trasna have been handed a landmark opportunity to represent their club and city on the international stage at the prestigious Celtic Cup in Spain.
The upcoming trip marks a significant milestone for the Derry club, offering the young squad the chance to experience a new culture and build lifelong friendships while competing against elite teams from across Europe. For many of the players, this will be their first experience of travelling abroad as part of a sporting team.
The selection is a direct reward for the squad’s unwavering dedication to the club, having progressed through years of rigorous winter training and representing the Derry community with pride in local competitions.
As part of its mission to provide equal opportunities for all young members, Na Piarsaigh CLG Doire Trasna has launched a major fundraising drive to ensure the trip is accessible to every player. The club is determined that no young person will miss out on this life-changing experience due to financial barriers.
“This is more than just a football trip; it is about growth both on and off the pitch,” said a club spokesperson. “We are passionate about providing these opportunities, and we are working hard to ensure that every player can join their teammates in Spain, regardless of financial circumstances.”
All funds raised will go directly towards essential costs, including travel, accommodation, and tournament fees. The club is calling on the local community, businesses, and supporters to assist in making this dream a reality for the U17 team.
Contributions of any size are welcomed, and the club has expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing support that allows its youth members to represent Derry on the world stage.
