Derry/Strabane Council launches citizen survey

Derry City and Strabane District Council has launched a citizen survey which will be used to help shape a plan designed to improve the quality of life of residents within this district.
Speaking at the launch the Mayor Cllr Elisha McCallion (pictured) said the survey gave residents one of the first opportunities to express their views on the new Council area and how it should be shaped going forward.
She added: “I would encourage anyone who has been approached by the survey enumerators to take part in the survey so that we can determine what our residents want for this area and also to establish how it can be improved upon so that it can be fed in to the community plan.”
The survey will influence the planning, prioritisation and delivery of services for the development of the city and district.
The objectives of the 2015 citizen survey are:
To ascertain community views on subjects which are important to community planning which are not necessarily evident from published official data sources.
To collect quantitative data through a randomly selected household survey within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
To collect qualitative data through focus group sessions.
To channel the data collated in to the community planning process to help inform the content of the proposed Community Plan.
