Don Boscos to honour club legend Terry Kelly

Derry junior football club Don Boscos FC will honour one of its founders at the club’s 43rd anniversary celebrations next week.
Terry Kelly (pictured), who also managed and captained the club’s senior team, went on to become the first football player in the world to skipper a club he played with in two different countries when he captained Derry City on their entry to the League of Ireland in 1985.
Next week’s event will place at An Culturlann on Great James’ Street on Saturday, August 29 on the 20th anniversary of his death.
He was killed when a van he was travelling in crashed on the main Derry to Strabane road in 1995.
Special guest speakers at the event will include Jimbo Crossan who, as manager, appointed Kelly as captain of the Brandywell club.
Those in attendance on the night will also receive an honorary booklet celebrating the life of Kelly, while Boscos will also open a club Hall of Fame.
Tickets, priced at £15, are still on sale.
