Man refused to leave vehicle when asked by police

Derry Magistrate's Court heard today how when police went to search a man in John Street in the city on suspicion of drugs he refused to get out of the vehicle.

Mark Hall (38) with an address in Drumpeen in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh admitted a charge of obstruction on February 20 past year.

The court heard that police were called to a report of two men suspected of taking drugs in John Street on the morning of that date.

Police approached and Hall was in the driver's seat of the vehicle and initially gave police false details.

Police requested him to exit the vehicle so he could be searched and he refused and eventually had to be removed from the vehicle and taken to the ground.

A defence solicitor said his client deserved credit for his guilty plea.

Hall was fined £100.
