Former Miss Derry Demi O'Hara is holding a fundraiser in aid of Little Princess Trust.

Little Princess Trust create real hair wigs for children who go through cancer and other hair loss illnesses.

Ms O'Hara is getting her hair cut at the Market Yard in Limavady on Friday April 28.

As part of the event there will be 10 local artists performing live, a raffle and an after-party with a DJ.

Ms O'Hara said that she had so far raised over £700 in tickets for the event.

She has also raised £175 of a £200 target on the fundraising website justgiving.com

The event kicks off at 9pm.

Ms O'Hara explained why she had made the decision to cut her hair for the charity.

"On the 28th April (two days before my 20th Birthday!!) I will be cutting at least 12 inches from my hair for The Little Princess Trust.

"From the age of 4 right up until now (aged 19) I have been blessed with naturally long blonde hair. I know I have taken it for granted over the years, getting the very same haircut each time.. ‘just a small trim’.

"Over the past few weeks I have been reading up on the Little Princess Trust organisation and how they provide real hair wigs to those who are losing their hair or have never had any, perhaps due to cancer treatments or other illnesses - free of charge.

"This amazing charity was set up by two parents after losing their little girl to Wilms Tumour - a type of kidney cancer. They now spend their time helping other children feel like little princesses/princes again.

"For anyone who knows me, you’ll know how much my hair means to me and you probably associate me with having extremely long hair, although it sounds trivial in comparison, it’ll be understandable how big of a change this will be - I’ve never had short hair before. I mean, my hair will grow back, I am doing this for the children who have never or will never be able to say that.

"So, from now until the 28th of April I am fundraising as much money as possible to go towards the Little Princess Trust. I hope you can join me on donating to this incredible charity as it is something that means so much to me. Please, if you can't donate feel free to share the page, the more people that see this, the more money is likely to be raised. There is no donation too small - every penny adds up!"
