Four in court over car stolen along Derry/Donegal border
Four young people from Derry appeared before Letterkenny District Court this morning charged in relation to an incident involving a car that was stolen in Bridgend last night.
Dean Beattie, 22, of Glenowen Park, Amy Beattie, 21 of Cecilia’s Walk, Cavin Whyte, 24, of Rossnagalliagh, and Caolan Knipe, 21, of Ballymagowan Gardens were charged with allowing themselves to be carried in a stolen vehicle at Bunnamayne, Bridgend on November 22nd.
Dean Beattie is also charged with driving without insurance while Amy Beattie is further charged with possession of a stolen bottle of perfume and a stolen student identification card.
Inspector Michael Harrison said there was no objection to bail.
Solicitor Frank Dorrian, for Dean Beattie and Amy Beattie, said his clients would be pleading guilty. He said they are “absolutely without resources” but if the sentences were restricted to a fine they would make arrangements to have the money for the new year.
Judge Paul Kelly released all four on their own bail of €100 but ordered them all to sign on each Wednesday at Buncrana Garda Station.
The matter was adjourned to Buncrana District Court on January 14th.
