Foyle MP joins Regional College Staff on picket line

Foyle MP Colum Eastwood has called for better pay and working conditions for all North West Regional College staff.

The SDLP leader joined the picket line with North West Regional College staff who were striking over fair pay and better working conditions.

Mr Eastwood said: “I’m supporting the North West Regional College staff forced into taking industrial action today. Fair pay and improved working conditions are fundamental rights that every worker should have, and the dedicated staff play a pivotal role in nurturing talent and driving educational achievement. Ensuring they receive fair pay and better working conditions recognises their invaluable contributions, and it must happen immediately.

“Staff here must be properly paid to create a positive learning environment and experience for students. It’s about sending a powerful message about investing in education, making it a top priority, and setting an example for years ahead.

“I’m supporting the staff today on the picket line and will continue to advocate on their behalf in Derry, Westminster and wherever I can so that they receive the proper pay and working conditions that they deserve.”
