Festival set to bounce back tomorrow for final day of maritime fun

Severe weather conditions have forced organisers to cut short Saturday evening’s festivities at the Foyle Maritime Festival.

To ensure public safety, organisers issued an apology citing safety as the absolute priority.

"Unfortunately, due to the heavy rain this evening, the Foyle Maritime Festival will be closing early," the post read. "We sincerely apologise for any disappointment and appreciate your understanding as we prioritise everyone’s safety."

The four-day maritime celebration, which has drawn thousands to the Derryriverfront, is scheduled to conclude tomorrow, Sunday, June 28.

Organisers remain optimistic for the grand finale, pointing to improved weather conditions in the immediate forecast.

"The good news is we’ll be back tomorrow for another fantastic day of festival fun – with some dry weather in the forecast - so get ready to do it all again.

“Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you back for some fun along the Foyle," the post continued.

Sunday's itinerary is expected to proceed as planned, featuring the signature afternoon tall ship public tours, quayside markets, and live music stages.

The festival will culminate tomorrow night with the rescheduled visual highlights, including "The Dusk Chorus" vocal performance at 10.25pm, followed by the grand finale fireworks display over the River Foyle at 11.00pm.

Festival-goers are advised to check official social media channels tomorrow morning for updates on site conditions and any scheduling adjustments.
