It all started off as a crazy idea from Bronagh McKeown when she decided to celebrate her 30th birthday by having a charity barn dance in her daddy’s 'auld shed'.   But when Charlie ‘Pappy’ O'Kane overheard this at their line dancing class in Walsh’s Hotel, he claimed: “This should be a special event  of music and line dancing  and we can throw in a sea dip.”   It all formed from there, all in aid  of two great causes: Open Doors Club Swatragh and Foyle Down Syndrome Trust.   The celebrations took place on Saturday, July 5 with a sea dip at The White Rocks Portrush, followed by an evening of country music and line dancing in the Wild Duck Inn, Portglenone.   This was a very successful fundraiser and there are numerous people to be thanked. Bronagh and Ronan,  Charley and Bernie O'Kane and all the Honkey Tonk Angels Line Dancers, to all the sponsors, the ticket sellers and  to everyone who donated raffle prizes, the Sea Dippers and Line Dancers, the cake makers and to everyone who provided the refreshments. Thanks to the Wild Duck Inn and Walsh’s Hotel for hosting the events. Special thank you to all as your  support made this a very successful fundraiser.   On Saturday, August 2, Open Doors Club Swatragh and Foyle Down Syndrome Trust were each presented with a cheque for £2,379.60 at a Line Dancing evening in Walsh’s Hotel. Both Groups will be forever grateful to everyone for their kindness and amazing generosity and would like to specially thank Bronagh and Ronan, Charlie and Bernie and the Honkey Tonk Angels in organising  this very successful fundraiser.  Pictured above: Bronagh and her family along with Charlie and Bernie and the Honkey Tonk Angels at their Line Dancing evening in Wild Duck Inn Portglenone.
