Niamh Nig Uiginn Niamh is a 5th year pupil who plays her club camogie with Robert Emmett’s Slaughtneil. From a young age, she has consistently impressed with her performances on the pitch, often covering every blade of grass from her usual midfield role. She was the co-captain of the Derry U14 All Ireland winning team in 2023 and she is a current member of the Derry U16 squad, having picked up an All Ireland U16 B Championship medal last year. She captained her school to win the Sciath Bhríde Junior competition this year, while also winning player of the match in the Rosina McManus cup final with the senior team. She is a committed and determined player who acts as a role model on every team she plays on. Congratulations on your well-deserved All Star award!

Cathal Ó Mianáin Cathal has won his second Ulster Colleges Allstar award. This is a massive achievement and we are all very proud of him here in school. Cathal has not missed a training session in the last three years and has been an example of hard work and dedication to all on the team. Pupils leaders such as Cathal have led Gaelcholáiste Dhoire on a meteoric journey over the last three years from winning the Casement Shield to representing the school in the Quarter Final of the Mageean Cup this year – and Cathal has played a role in every victory. Cathal and his fellow students represent a generation of GCD pupils who have raised the standards of sport in the school.

Peadar Pio Ó Duibhne Peadar Pio was selected as number 13 on the Future Stars panel and there is little doubt that the award is well deserved in his case. Peadar Pio is an extremely dangerous forward who is constantly improving his game and pushing boundaries on the pitch. A ripple of excitement could be felt among the spectators when the sliotar comes into Peadar Pio’s hand and most of the back lines found him very difficult to contain. Peadar Pio is a member of the Derry Minor team and he is gaining lots of game time, match experience and is taking all opportunities to improve his playing ability. Peadar Pio got a great and very important goal in the final of the Casement Cup last year which kept GCD in the game and tightened our grip on the cup. He has, without doubt, been awarded a much deserved Future Star this year.

Emmet Óg Mac Íomhair There was no surprise among Emmet Óg’s friends, colleagues and teachers when he was awarded a Future Stars award this year having attended the trials in Queens University. Emmet captained the Forester's Cup Team this year and he gave a great account of himself in each and every match. Emmet Óg is also a great football player and he represented the county on the minor team this year. A quiet young man who stands his ground no matter what the opposition throws at him. A giant on the playing field and the recipient of a well-deserved award this year. Is cuid den céad gluain eile iad Emmet ÓG agus Peadar Pio ag leanúint dea shampla Cathal rud amháin atá cinnte ná go bhfuil todhchaí geal ós ár gcomhair. Don céad uair roghnaíodh beirt ar foireann Future Stars ó GCD agus táimid an bhródúil astu. Emmet Óg and Peadar Pios represent the next generation of Gaelcholáiste Dhoire hurlers who are following in the footsteps of Cathal and his generation. It is the first time that two players from the school were selected for the Future Stars team and it is clear that the future of Gaelic Games in the school is in very safe hands.
