A coach load of enthusiastic gardeners headed off from Swatragh on July 22 to pay a fact-finding/best-practice trip to the Organic Centre, Leitrim. The venture was made possible by funding gratefully received from The Housing Executive. The group experienced a tour of the centre and two hands-on workshops, one on growing plants in small containers and another on propagating plants. They finished with a lovely lunch on the way home. The women’s group in Swatragh has a thriving gardeners’ group (since 2019) and they meet at their wee community garden/potting shed every fortnight during the summer to learn about growing vegetables organically. This visit was part of their H.E. funded “Growing stronger. Together!” project.
