Incredible Lavey girls come from five points behind to win Ulster title!

Lavey 2-11
Dungloe (Donegal) 1-13
LAVEY dug deep and their reward is Ulster champions.
What an achievement for the club as they recovered from five points adrift in the second half to land the Ulster title in Healy park, Omagh on Sunday afternoon.
Two years ago they were only beginning the process of starting adult ladies football in Lavey and what they have achieved in such a short space of time is unbelievable. Junior county champions in their first year, Intermediate and now Ulster champions in their second year and who knows what lies ahead as they head into the all Ireland series.
They did ride their luck as Dungloe will look back on this as one that got away, kicking ten wides in all swell as squandering numerous other opportunities. However, nothing can take away from the performance of Lavey who showed fantastic character. The sides level at the break Lavey 1-6 Dungloe 0-9, Carla Collins rowing in with 1-4 in that opening half. The Derry champions struggling with the running game of Dungloe with all of the Donegal half back line getting in on the scoring.
While Aoife Shaw who hit five in all opened the second half scoring it was Dungloe that took control with an unanswered 1-3 to move five clear, Ulitah Boyle finding the net. They only managed a further point though that on 41 minutes as Lavey came roaring back. Team captain Caitriona Toner leading the way as she palmed to net as the game entered the final quarter. Collins levelled matters nine minutes from time before captain fantastic Toney kicked the winner on 56 minutes. Their was further drama three minutes into added time when Niamh McKenna made a superb save to deny Dungloe a match winning goal. Celebration time in Lavey - Ulster Champions 2023
