Jail for man for disorderly behaviour at Derry's Altnagelvin Hospital

A man who refused to leave Altnagelvin Hospital after being treated and who became disorderly has been jailed at Derry Magistrate's Court today.
Nathan McLaughlin (29) of no fixed abode admitted two assaults and a charge of disorderly behaviour at Altnagelvin Hospital on September 13.
The court heard that police were called to deal with a disorderly male.
They were told that after being treated McLaughlin refused to leave and became aggressive.
When a ward sister spoke to him he tried to headbutt her and used abusive language.
Defence counsel Sinead Rogan said that there was an issue with McLaughlin'address and that was why he became irate.
She said that the assault charges were 'technical assaults' but the offences were aggravated by the hospital setting.
She said her client had 'limited record' and had been in custody since the offences occurred.
Deputy District Judge Liam McStay said that a 'custodial sentence was inevitable' and jailed McLaughlin for five months.
