Santa Claus is coming to town to meet the children of Kilrea on Sat 7 December on an evening that promises fun for all the family.

From 4-6pm the festivities take place in the Fairhill, with music, festive refreshments, quad train and face decorations on offer – and we’re hoping for some surprise guests to appear. Santa will be there too – of course – providing the crowd sings and cheers loud enough to send his Cheer-ometer all the way to the top! He’ll then head into his grotto to hand out a gift for each child.

Then it’s time for the parade which will see everyone follow Santa along Maghera Street to the Diamond where he’ll turn on the Christmas tress lights to round off the evening.

Children attending are invited to bring their ride-ons* - decorated for Christmas with lights and sparkles – when they join Santa and parade to the Diamond.

*Any child (or adult) bringing their scooter/trike etc is advised to wear their cycling helmet. Andrew Hickey, Chair of Kilrea Community & Fairy Thorn Association, said: “We’re delighted to be delivering our second Christmas Switch On and look forward to seeing everyone from 4pm on Saturday 7 December. Using the Fairhill for our activities will allow us to offer a more interactive event, alongside the traditional switching on of the lights on the tree at the Diamond.”
