Eamon McCloskey celebrates a "delightful" contribution to local safety as a public access defibrillator goes live in Rosemount

A new public access defibrillator was installed at McCloskey's MACE shop in Rosemount this week, due to funding from the British Heart Foundation.

The life-saving device will now be available 24/7/365 and is registered on The Circuit, the national defibrillator network, so that Northern Ireland Ambulance Service can direct people to it in the event of a cardiac arrest.

Eamon McCloskey from “Doc’s” MACE said: “We are absolutely delighted to see this defibrillator being installed at our shop today. It’s always great being able to contribute to the local community.

“We hope that no-one is unfortunate enough to need this equipment, but it’s reassuring to know that its ready and waiting and may save lives.”

Niall Doran, a local resident who assisted with the delivery of the project said: “This is great news for Rosemount, Lower Creggan and the wider area. Cardiac arrests often happen without warning - anytime, and anywhere.

"Early access to a defibrillator is vital to give someone the best chance of survival. Our community now has that access thanks to the British Heart Foundation. In the event of a medical emergency always call ‘999’ and ask for the Ambulance Service. They will be able to direct you towards the nearest available defibrillator.”
