Local community worker Karen Mullan set to replace Elisha McCallion as Foyle MLA

Well known local community worker Karen Mullan is set to replace Foyle MP Elisha McCallion as Foyle MLA.

Mrs Mullan is known locally for her work at Hillcrest House.

The Foyle MLA seat became vacant when Elisha McCallion was elected as MP for Foyle last Friday.

Mrs McCallion never formally served as MLA for Foyle due to the collapse of the Assembly over the RHI heating scandal.

Mrs Mullan accepted the nomination for the seat at a meeting of Sinn Fein in Derry tonight.
