Maghera Heritage and Cultural Centre embarking on new phase of future development
A public meeting is taking place on Tuesday to welcome interested people to come and learn more and participate in discussion on ways and means to take the society into the future
Maghera Heritage and Cultural Centre is embarking on a new phase of future development and is encouraging interested people to come forward to have a discussion on ways to take the organisation into the future.
The Maghera Heritage and Cultural Centre has had a notable presence in mid town Maghera for the last 10 years and has been serving the local community in various ways providing a hub and shared space to facilitate social interaction, recreation and leisure activities.
Education and development skills are provided in a hands-on workshop where practical skills and crafting techniques are developed. Computer training courses are also offered.
With a well equipped library, local history, traditions and customs can be learnt and researched by students, groups and the frequent visitors often from other countries.
All these activities engender inclusive participation respecting the different groups and precious local or cultural traditions.
The centre assists in various ways those who have mental, social and physical challenges as well as those who are socially isolated or lonely.
Managed and staffed by volunteers is a formidable task and the society is embarking on a new phase of future development.
They would welcome an approach by anyone who feels they have what it takes to make any of the above happen.
On Tuesday, June 10 at 7.30pm in the centre - 11 Main Street, Maghera - a public meeting is taking place to welcome interested people to come and learn more and participate in discussion on ways and means to take the society into the future.
Present and past members and old friends would make an important contribution.
