A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with a number of drug offences.

The man, who cannot be named after an anonymity order was granted, was charged with, between January 2024 and January 2025, being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

He was also charged with, on January 7, possession of cocaine and possession with intent to supply.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges and said that the offences came to light following other phones being triaged.

Police searched the man's home on January 7 and found cocaine with a street value of £1,000, as well as scales, bags and a smart phone.

When interviewed, he admitted the charges of possession but refused to give the pass code for the phone.

Police objected to bail and District Judge Barney McElhom refused the application stating that he would not waiver from his position of no PIN no bail.

He said bail would not be considered until the pass code was given and the phone checked by police.

Defence barrister Adam Laird asked for a short adjournment to allow the man to comply.

The defendant was remanded in custody to appear again on January 16.
