Man charged following Derry street fight receives conditional discharge

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates Court charged with disorderly behaviour.
James Walsh (33) of Glenabbey Drive in Derry was charged with, on August 8 last year, disorderly behaviour after police appeared at a fight taking place outside the City Cabs office in William Street.
Police attempted to break up the fight and both Walsh and the other man involved continued to shout abuse despite repeated warnings.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that the fight was between two friends and that 'no members of the public were in fear', adding that many were, in fact, recording it for social media.
He also said that the incident had caused Walsh great embarrassment and that he had pleaded early.
He received a conditional discharge.
