Man charged with a number of domestic offences remanded at Derry Magistrates' Court

Peter Logan (50) of no fixed abode was charged with the offences that were said to have occurred on February 22
A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with a number of domestic offences, including false imprisonment, non-fatal strangulation, abusive behavior and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Peter Logan (50) of no fixed abode was charged with the offences that were said to have occurred on February 22.
Logan's partner, the injured party, called the police to report that he had locked her in her home and punched her in the head.
She told them that he had been verbally abusive the previous night and that the abuse had eventually turned physical, with Logan punching her and leaving bumps on her head.
When she attempted to lock herself in the bathroom, Logan was said to have followed her and put his hands on her throat.
She said she had tried to leave the house but found the door had been locked.
Logan told police that the relationship had been 'up and down', telling them that the injured party 'told lies' and said that he still wanted a relationship with her.
Police objected to bail as he had no suitable address and has been deemed to be at high risk of reoffending, with 25 previous convictions, a number of them for domestic offences.
A police officer said Logan was 'a serial perpetrator of domestic abuse' and a 'violent offender.'
Defence Barrister Gavyn Cairns asked for the case to be adjourned while an appropriate address was found.
Logan was remanded in custody and will appear again on March 10.
