Man charged with breaching bail conditions an hour after being released from police custody

Niall Martin (41) of Caw Close had been granted bail on Wednesday on charges of assault and criminal damage involving his on-and-off partner
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with breaching his bail conditions an hour after being released from police custody.
Niall Martin (41) of Caw Close had been granted bail on Wednesday on charges of assault and criminal damage involving his on-and-off partner.
One of the conditions of his bail included not to be at the address of the injured party nor to enter the area where she lived.
The court was told that Martin was released from custody at around 1pm and within an hour of his release, police were called to her address following reports that he was banging on her door and throwing items.
Police objected to bail as they have no confidence that he would obey his conditions.
Defence Barrister Stephen Chapman told the court his client said that the injured party had called Martin to come and get his things when the incident happened.
Bail was revoked and he will appear again on February 27.
