Man charged with disorderly behaviour and assaulting police in takeaway

After a man was refused service at a takeaway premises police had to be called to remove him from the shop Derry Magistrate's Court heard today.
Sean Connell (26) of Moyglass Place in Strathfoyle appeared charged with, on December 16, disorderly behaviour in a takeaway on the Strand Road in Derry as well as assault on police.
The court heard that police were called by staff after Connell was reported to be acting aggressively.
Upon their arrival, Connell began shouting at police and kicked out as they tried to arrest him, leading to police having to restrain him.
He was also alleged to have bitten two officers.
Police objected to bail as Connell has 108 previous convictions for a variety of offences and was at clear risk of breaching bail if released.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott called the incident a 'drunken escapade', adding that Connell had addiction issues that he was currently seeking treatment for.
Bail was granted with the conditions that he doesn't consume drugs or alcohol, avoids the city centre and obeys a curfew.
He will appear again on January 11.
