A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with driving offences.

Colin Snodgrass (37) of Castlewarren Road in Donemana appeared charged with driving with no insurance and while disqualified on February 7.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges and opposed bail.

The court heard that police were on mobile patrol in the Ardmore Road area and observed a tractor being driven by the defendant.

Police were aware that Snodgrass was a disqualified driver having been disqualified for two years in 2023.

The defendant was also on bail for further driving offences as well as being in breach of a curfew.

Defence counsel Stephen Mooney said that his client had co-operated fully with police.

He said that there had been no driving issues and the defendant was simply moving some cattle.

District Judge Barney McElholm said that the defendant had been in court in January for offences including dangerous driving.

He said that Snodgrass had previous no insurance convictions.

The judge said that the defendant simply wouldn't obey the laws of the road and refused bail.

Snodgrass was remanded in custody to appear again on February 22.
