A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with an incident involving his mother and daughter.

Declan Darren Dillon (27) of no fixed abode appeared charged with assaulting a female on June 11, a charge of criminal damage on the same date and one of possessing cannabis.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges.

He said police were called to a report that the defendant was 'kicking off' at his mother's house.

They attended and found the defendant to be 'calm' while they were there.

They spoke to his mother and sister who said Dillon had arrived at the house demanding to be allowed in.

When he came in he began to verbally abuse his mother and was asked to leave the property by his sister.

He was said to have threatened 'to knock her out' and punched a door telling her that would happen to her.

Dillon was also alleged to have threatened any member of the emergency services who came through the door.

When police searched him they found CBD oil.

Defence solicitor Paddy McGurk said that they were 'actively seeking an address' for Dillon and that the cannabis charge was accepted but the rest was denied.

A police officer said that they were not objecting to bail to an address to be approved by the PSNI.

Dillon was granted bail to an approved address on condition he does not contact his mother or sister and does not enter Academy Road in Derry.

He will appear again on July 11.
