A man charged with a sexual assault on a female in Altnagelvin Hospital by claiming he had 'healing hands' before allegedly touching her breasts has been re-released on bail at Derry Crown Court.

Christopher Woods (59) of Station View in Derry is charged with the offence which was said to have occurred on January 1 this year.

Woods had his bail revoked at the local Magistrate's Court last month for the sixth breach by being out after his curfew.

Defence counsel Sean Doherty said the original charge dated from January and there had been no further offending.

He said that the breach of curfew occurred because Woods 'lost track of time' but the defendant had handed himself in the next morning.

Judge Neil Rafferty KC told Woods he had been in custody for several weeks and added 'that's what happens if you breach your bail.'

He re-released Woods on condition he observes a curfew, wears an electronic tag, has no contact with two females, does not enter the grounds of Altnagelvin Hospital unless brought there and does not go within 500 metres of Quayside Shopping Centre.

Woods will appear again on September 16.
