Man facing number of charges including assaulting a police officer

A man has appeared in Derry Magistrates Court charged with assaulting a police officer and another male, as well as theft and attempted criminal damage.

Frankie Lynn, 18, of Spencer Road in the Waterside, is charged with stealing various items of food from Iceland worth £14 on July 20 this year. 

He was further charged with two counts of assault, one of which was on a police officer, and attempted criminal damage on August 29. 

A police officer connected the accused to the charges and said that bail was not being opposed. 

Lynn was granted £500 bail to an address agreed by the PSNI with conditions that he have no contact with the various named individuals and that he stay away from Oaktree B&B and Iceland in Foyleside Shopping Centre.

The case was adjourned until September 28.
