A defence barrister, Stephen Mooney, told the court that his client had a terrible record but there was no domestic burglaries only commercial ones.

The court heard that the injured party returned to their hairdressing salon after being closed for Easter.

They found the premises ransacked and a door having been forced.

Cash of £2,800 was missing as well as equipment valued at £1,500.

CCTV revealed two males near the premises and blood belonging to McGilloway was found at the scene.

Judge Neil Rafferty KC said that McGilloway had 'an appalling record' with 265 previous convictions 74 of them for burglaries.

The judge said that McGilloway had issues in his childhood and had taken recourse in alcohol and drugs.

He jailed McGilloway for two years with half of that in custody and half on supervision.
