The announcement of the Voluntary Youth Capital Scheme to provide capital grants for Youth Service facilities has been welcomed by Sinn Fein Foyle MLA Maeve McLaughlin.

Ms McLaughlin (pictured), said the scheme unveiled by Education Minister John O’Dowd would “greatly assist” youth services in the invaluable work they do with young people across the North.

She added: "It will provide capital grants to allow youth services to improve their facilities, refurbish premises and provide services to meet the needs of young people with disabilities.

"The application process itself has also been simplified to make it easier for youth organisations to apply.”

Ms McLaughlin concluded: "This is a further indication of Sinn Féin's commitment to providing first-class services to children and young people."
