McLaughlin welcomes extension plans for Altnagelvin Hospital

The granting of full planning permission for extension plans at Altnagelvin Hospital has been welcomed by Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Maeve McLaughlin.

The proposals will see the construction of several new wards, consisting of 144 single bedrooms with associated support facilities.

Ms McLaughlin, the chairperson of the Stormont Health Committee, said: “This is good news for Alnagelvin Hospital and comes just a few months after the opening of a new £4.4 million multi storey car park there.

“And the current £70M investment creating 215 jobs for a state of the art Radiotherapy unit being built on site.”

Ms McLaughlin concluded: “All of these developments at Altnagevlin will give a massive boost for the delivery of a modern health care service in the North West region.”
