McLaughlin welcomes Irish Govt commitment to A5 upgrade
Confirmation from the Irish government that it remains committed to the upgrade of the A5 road project, has been welcomed by Foyle Sinn Fein MLA Maeve McLaughlin.
Ms McLaughlin said the upgrade was a “key project” and it was “encouraging” the Irish government continued to recognise its commitment made in the St Andrew’s Agreement.
She added: “I welcome the fact the Irish government has reiterated its support for the upgrade of the A5 road between Derry and Dublin in its Infrastructure and Capital Investment plan released today.
"The upgrade of the A5 is crucial to the further development of the all-Ireland economy and would help communities all along the proposed route.”
Ms McLaughlin concluded: "We now need to see further progress on this project to ensure this commitment is delivered and this vital piece of infrastructure is put in place as soon as possible."
