Foyle MP Colum Eastwood has commented on the conviction of a man who posted menacing messages about Mayor of Derry, Cllr Lilian Seenoi Barr.
Kevin Barry McIntyre posted abusive messages about the Mayor and Mr Eastwood suggesting ‘his and her death is near’.
The former SDLP leader said: “There’s no place in our city for these kind of racist, fascist threats. Lilian has already proven what a capable and compassionate public representative she is through her time as our mayor.
“No threats have ever deterred her or me from doing our jobs standing up for the people of Derry.
“I regret that some narrow minded people have put themselves in jeopardy by foolishly posting menacing and abusive threats. I am glad that the matter has now been dealt with.”
