£10,000 cocaine seizure handed over to Derry police

Cocaine said to be worth around £10,000 has been handed over to the PSNI after it was seized in the Galliagh of Derry area at the weekend.
The drugs seized from a drugs gang operating in the city on Saturday by what the independent councillor for the area, Warren Robinson, described as ‘local community activists connected to the Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP).
The cocaine was then handed over to Rosemount Resource Centre (RRC), who in turn contacted the PSNI.
Tommy McCourt, from the Centre, said he had been contacted by members of the IRSP after they had “taken the drugs out of circulation.”
He added: “I immediately contacted the police, and arrangements have been made for them to come and collect the drugs.
“I’ve been told the value of the cocaine was around £10,000.”
