£520,000 announced for resurfacing scheme for Aghadowey

The works will begin on Monday, July 22 and last until August 18
A £520,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme for the A54 Curragh Road/Glenkeen Road in Aghadowey, has been announced.
Infrastructure Minister John O’Dowd confirmed the works will begin on Monday, July 22 and last until August 18.
Minister O’Dowd said it is a substantial investment for the Aghadowey area, which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users.
He said: "The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our rural road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the scheme, it will be necessary to implement a weekday closure from Rhee Lane Road on the Curragh Road to Number 69 on the Glenkeen Road. This will be operational from Monday, July 22 to Sunday, August 18 between the hours of 9.30am and 4.00pm. A signed diversion will be in place.
The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Sunday, August 18, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
