DUP Foyle MLA Gary Middleton has raised concern over the closure of the Waterside office

The PSNI is being urged to reconsider its decision to close its enquiry office in its Waterside station.

The PSNI announced today that the Waterside office will close along with a number of others due to 'financial and resource pressures'.

DUP Foyle MLA Gary Middleton has raised concern over the closure of the Waterside office.

He said: "I am concerned and disappointed by the announcement that the PSNI Enquiry Office at the Waterside Station is to close within the next three months as part of a cost cutting exercise, with a reduction from 28 to 17 across Northern Ireland having been announced.

"I have spoken with the Chief Superintendent and voiced my disappointment and concern about this decision and highlighted the impact that this will have on those requiring access to the enquiry office for various issues.

"I have also spoken to my Policing Board colleagues to urge the Chief Constable and PSNI leadership to reverse this decision."
