Pull on the wellies: free heritage training at Faughan Valley

Faughan Valley Landscape Partnership is once again offering free of charge heritage training opportunities for volunteers or local people interested in the natural and built heritage of rural Derry and the Faughan Valley.
The training is LANTRA accredited and will take place in the new LANTRA approved training centre in the RAPID offices at the Old School, Killaloo near Claudy.
The heritage training course, which has been held twice previously, has proven to be a great success for people who want to learn more about their local heritage either for their own interest or as a taster for taking up a longer term course.
The course will take place over five days from the 18 – 22 May and is designed for people who have a keen interest in the local heritage and will involve learning about the natural environment, geology, archaeology, buildings and general history of the Faughan Valley.
The course will also involve getting the wellies on and visiting important cultural, built and natural heritage sites.
The course is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and is free of charge and all instructors will be LANTRA approved and an accredited LANTRA certificate will be provided at the end of the five day course.
For more information on the course and to book your place please telephone Annie Mullan on 028 71 337498 or email [email protected].
There are 12 spaces available but booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment. Photo shows participants on a previous Faughan Valley heritage training course.
