Rapid Relief Team Belfast volunteers support firefighters responding to Dungiven bush fire

'We’re grateful for the opportunity to support firefighters with something as simple as a hot meal, allowing them to stay focused on keeping the community safe' - RRT
Volunteers from charity The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) deployed earlier this morning (Thursday) to support emergency services responding to an ongoing bush fire in the Dungiven area.
As the incident continues to unfold, more than 50 firefighters are currently involved in efforts to contain the fire. Eight RRT Belfast volunteers were mobilised within the last few hours to provide immediate welfare support, serving hot burger meals to crews working in demanding conditions.

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT), made up of volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, has over a decade of experience supporting emergency services across the UK and Ireland, providing practical support during major incidents and emergencies. The charity’s volunteers respond at short notice, delivering welfare assistance in line with the needs of incident commanders on the ground.
Neil Patton, RRT Belfast Local Team Leader said:“Our volunteers haven't been on site long, but it’s already clear how intense and demanding this operation is. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support firefighters with something as simple as a hot meal, allowing them to stay focused on keeping the community safe.”
RRT Belfast volunteers remain on standby to continue supporting emergency services as the response progresses.
