A spokesperson for the Foundation commented: “We are delighted to confirm that the 2023 Chieftain’s Walk will begin at Free Derry Corner and finish in the car park beside the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

“This is an emotional route as it recalls places that were special to Martin throughout his life, including his beloved Bogside and the Derry Walls, a route he could often be found walking the family dog.

“Last year’s walk was a major success and saw visitors from across the island and further afield come to the city to partake in the walk.

“Online registration is now open with all proceeds helping to support the ongoing work of the Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation.

“People wishing to take part in the walk are encouraged to register early and can do so by logging on to:  register.enthuse.com/ps/event/ChieftainsWalk2023.”
