Ryanair reduces City of Derry flights to Portugal
Ryanair is to reduce the number flights from City of Derry Airport to Portugal.
The low-cost airline has announced it will operate two flights a week to Faro in the Algarve only during the month of July.
In a statement the company said the reduction was “regrettable” and was due to a “lack of aircraft capacity.”
It added air capacity would increase over the next five years with the introduction of new aircraft.
A spokesperson for Derry City Council drescribed the announcement as “disappointing.”
Last year, sister companies Thomson and First Choice cancelled City of Derry Airport flights to Lanzarote in the Canary Island following what they described as “a review” of their programme.
