Scunnered! Derry reacts to 'glorified smoking hut' partially covering beloved Derry Girls mural

The mural located on Orchard St has become a huge tourist attraction
Fans of the hit show Derry Girls have nearly gone into meltdown after an outdoor smoking area was erected that, partially, covers a beloved mural of the main cast in Derry.
Located on the side of Badger’s Bar and Restaurant on Orchard Street, the mural, described as a "must see" when visiting the city, has become a huge tourist attraction.
The mural was created by a local not-for-profit company, UV Arts, and depicts the main characters Erin Quinn, Clare Devlin, Orla McCool, Michelle Mallon, and James Maguire, and was first revealed to the public in January 2019.
But fans of the show, and the mural alike, have kicked off after the erection of a "glorified smoking hut" which covers the bottom half of the mural.
"Lovely to see Derry shoot itself square in the foot again by building a glorified smoking hut to cover half the Derry Girls mural... Scunnered is not the word for it. I despair.", said user @ClaireAllan.
The comments then came rolling in with users saying, "Is this real? The mural is a tourist attraction, how are people supposed to take decent photos?", and "Wow, who’s idea was that, such a shame…"
Other users defended the new build saying, "Maybe the pubs fed up with tourists and wants shot?", and "It's a painting ffs".
Owners of Badger’s Bar and Restaurant have been contacted for comment.
